As though taking immediate inspiration from Indian philosopher, Jiddu Krishnamurti’s words, “When you draw or paint a tree, you do not imitate the tree; you do not copy it exactly as it is, which would be mere photography. To be free to paint a tree or a flower or a sunset, you have to feel what it conveys to you: the significance, the meaning of it.”, Studio US Design brings to life a space dominated by a central lit-up tree structure.

The mood changing lights on the tree transform the 100-seater space, adapting it to different events and occasions. This iconic metal feature segregates the entire space into a common dining area and a discrete space for private parties – yet, the two spaces remain visually connected.

An array of elements, from the wall paint, flooring patterns and ceiling, every detail contributes to the overall concept of urban modernity with cohesiveness. A seamless connection is made in the interiors as warm tones of wood are accentuated with blue fabric, grey hues and gold accents. Continuity is maintained between the interior and exterior spaces with the original parts of the built structure as the existing façade arches are now decked with planters, adding a quaint character to the fine dine.

Antique mirror finishes, a shiny leatherette ceiling and patterned flooring lend the space a dramatic look and feel, while classical panelling produces a rather plush and indulgent vibe. The ultimate take-away for a diner at CUE then becomes a homogenous mix of food, décor and sensual experience.
