Party time is great fun! But clearing up after? Here
are some simple solutions to save you from some nightmarish clearing up!!
December - the Friday of the year, when celebration
needs no reason, is that time of the year, when an almost non-stop round of
partying and celebration take the cake! You are alternately wired and tired…but
the ball must roll on. Well, here are some quick clearing-up solutions that
will cheer you on…
Fill up a shallow
plastic tub with warm soapy water. Dump all the glassware in here – carefully
of course! To add a sparkle to glassware, add a few drops of laundry blue (Ujala) to the water. Using a sponge,
briskly clean, and rinse with hot water. Stubborn stains from glasses can be
removed with washing soda.
Instead of picking bits
of snacks etc., off the floor and from the upholstery, arm yourself with a soft
wire brush (the kind used for cleaning your leather jackets and brushing your
pants etc) and clean-sweep off all the specks from the upholstered furniture
onto the floor. Then with swift sure movements of the good-old jhaadu, sweep
the place clean.
Conserve time and energy by walking around the home with two bags - one for the litter and one for the added accessories or décor add-ons (for the duration of the party) and clear up ashtrays, flowers, tissues, etc., etc., leaving the area as lived in as you are always comfortable with. You can spend precious time the morning after, putting them away in their assigned places but don’t forget to spray the air freshener.

Organise the kitchen –
the kitchen is always the worst hit area after a roaring party. Organise the
leftover food by directly filling in some disposable containers with food that
needs to be given away, with the rest going into suitable containers for your
fridge; save yourself from making fresh breakfast the next day.
If you have sensibly used disposable tableware, you’re at peace, as all you need to do is dump everything into an over-sized garbage bag and dispose!

Armed with a good
cleaning spray, wipe clean all wooden, metal and glass surfaces in quick
sweeping motions to keep away the nocturnal creatures - you can do a thorough job the next day.
Rest to ready for the next! |
Finally, spend a good 10
minutes on yourself - take off your make-up, moisturise your hands and go to
sleep, dreaming about the next big party coming your way…
