Interiors by Ranjani (IBR Designs) crafts a home that reflects the several little things that make life a big celebration...
Residential design is hugely subjective. The home embodies various sensibilities; yet, is harmonised as a single entity. Ranjani from IBR realises this and actualises it in her home in a premium neighbourhood of Bengaluru.
Attuned to varying preferences, she uses a varied material palette and an equally engaging treatment to the design elements that combine to instil warmth. A lived-in feel characterises the 1508 sq. ft. home. The partially-open kitchen and dining area is the heart of the home, and markedly segregates the public and private areas.
Attention to detail and efficient space planning combine to anoint the space with eclectic contemporaneity. One observes a play of textures as natural raw uncut wood juxtaposes with acrylic mirror panelling (in the dining area ceiling); and glass – custom-made copper-colour and black lacquered glass (in the master bedroom) is pitted against natural veneer; or even as wooden rafters in the ceiling vie for attention with the modern furniture, and a chest of the drawers in the dining area (which is custom-designed using all the colours used in the project) is complemented by a whimsical and time-honoured mirror above it to reflect a colonial feel. Material play is highlighted in the feature wall in the living area, where Ranjani carefully combines five different stones, cut into informal shapes to clad the wall.
Each of the private areas conforms to the personality of its occupants. A classic combination of black and gold anoints the master bedroom, while the guest bedroom is diligently neutral. Conventionally designed, the children’s room is a cheerful den of hues with study, play and sleep functions overlapping to facilitate spaciousness.
Plenty of natural light gives the home a warm relaxed feel, while well-chosen light fittings complete the ambient mode. Overall, the home ascribes to a wholesomely designed modern space that defines a contemporary lifestyle.
