Rainbow Designers craft a signature weekend-retreat-cum-party-destination for a family seeking respite from the buzz of city life…

Designers Vikrant and Sapna Bhawsar have designed a lavish weekend retreat for the Dagariya family on the outskirts of Indore; an idyllic location, where they can entertain guests as well as enjoy peace and tranquility.

Overall modern, the house is a subtle combination of classical and contemporary styles of architecture, where co-existence is key. Touches of a minimalist approach are juxtaposed with fine detailing as in the exquisite jali work of the dining area or the bold-feel elaborately-decorated headboards in the bedrooms. Further meticulousness prevails in finer detailing of design and décor elements.

The main seating area bifurcates into two zones: one, a sun room, close to nature, surrounded by the landscape; and the other, the formal living room. A triple-height atrium imparts scale to the interiors with bedrooms positioned around it. Moreover, the outside is welcomed inside through large windows. Since the home is on a vacant plot in the outskirts of Indore, the outdoorsy feel is enhanced with a well-trimmed garden, deck, water bodies and a swimming pool to ensure a self-sufficient holiday experience.

Each of the seven ensuite bedrooms is a unique statement via the selection and use of material viz. wallpaper, rustic stone, wooden panelling, ceiling treatment, art and a bespoke theme-driven colour palette.

Spaciousness is another key element as the homeowners were clear that they wanted lavishness minus clutter. The luxury element is thus catered to via a touch of drama – chic, understated, with nuanced highlights that reinstate the onus of the interiors on merrymaking.
