Australian white marble flooring with white polycoated furniture, white layered walls and white ceilings are the unifying threads running throughout the 1,800 sq ft single-family residence located in suburban Mumbai.

An open-plan living-cum-dining depicts identical panels designed in leather and creative MDF, where one doubles up as dining bench backrest, whilst the other as TV wall. A hint of sheen in the beige curtains; carefully curated artifacts; mother-of-pearl inlayed into the dining table and doors manage to pique a visitor’s curiosity.

A grayish-blue agate breakfast counter-top becomes the cynosure of all eyes, further highlighted by spot lighting, whilst a strip of blue lighting under the kitchen platform adds a sparkle. 

Being in the hospitality business, the client loves to entertain at home, so spaciousness is augmented viz. mirrors, clean and straight lines, a neutral colour palette, and floor-to-ceiling windows etc. – ably carving out areas for functional and socializing requirements.

Small details make a huge difference to this project. Fluid wall contours anoint the children’s bedroom, where free-flowing curvilinear forms wrap the furniture, twist around the walls and go right up to the ceiling; resonating with varying moods, when lit up with colour-changing LEDs. The TV room doubles up as a guest bedroom, furnished with an over-scaled built-in bed and a non-standard wardrobe of varying depths. The bathrooms spell luxury in dark Italian marbles – a direct contrast to the muted shades of the home…

‘Non-standard’ is the underlying mantra here; the clean-lined no-fuss décor and non-cluttered spaces are eclectically evocative with subtle touches of luxury and aesthetically designed lighting that completes the apartment with understated flourish.
