Workplaces to Enjoy

Abstraction in form; colour neutrality and fluid lines of curvature define workspaces designed by Delhi-based Kapil Aggarwal of KA Designs. IAnD profiles two of his recent projects... 

His abstract shapes attract a pulsating energy into his interior spaces; as if the fluid lines have a lot to say. Yet, Kapil keeps the maximum out of general vision by relegating them to a play of geometric forms in the ceiling with a little trickling down on the walls, catching one’s attention and as one looks up, gradually allowing one’s eye to bask in the complete interplay of the design.

Form and function amalgamate. An open-office takes shape, complete with emphasis on branding, comfort and ease in upkeep, without any compromise on requisite zoning, transparency that is the hallmark of an open layout and fostering creative environs.

Speaking about his bi-levelled office, Kapil enthuses about creating vitality through use of the colour green and back-lit components that stand out along with the white furniture and minimal use of wood amidst a cement-finished interior envelope. Amplifying the spacious feel and playing on the tenets of youthfulness and contemporaneity, he uses glass in partitions. A highlight is an interesting multiple-box-panelled ceiling, displaying the journey of different projects and ideologies of the firm.

In a similar vein, his design for the Cubix office apportions the space into public and semi-private areas, connecting the corridors with interior spaces, creating interesting transitional pockets. Continuing the ‘fluid’ thematic, the designer uses free-flowing shapes in furniture design, pendulum lights, sofas and walls, whilst adding character and interest through accent elements like a bright yellow seating, display of a building model and multiple project images, in the otherwise monochromatic palette.

With emphasis on chiselling a contemporary, happening work place, where one’s maximum waking hours are spent, Kapil adeptly manages to derive Draft of  them students as future brand ambassadors of AP tcommunicative spaces, delivering unique identity and soul to each of his works.
