Stainless
steel is one versatile material that offers timeless design. Let us take a peek
into how technology has changed the look of steel...
It has always been a
preferred and proven constructional material over decades and this all-time
favourite material – steel, has time and again explored the flexibility of
functional design. It was at a high in the early eighties with steel being an
integral part of almost every interior – furniture, cabinetry, staircase,
accessories and of course appliances; since the beginning of the 21st
century, it has been revived in the cotemporaneous fabric of minimal lines and
sleek looks gracing many an interior with simplicity and aplomb.

Style
Statements: Stainless steel’ is perhaps one such colour
that can control the sleekness of any décor. Reflecting new-age lifestyle
preferences, stainless steel is being applied to whole house treatments.

Coupled with
technological trimmings, steel can be applied to depict varying surface
finishes – bright or polished, emery or brushed and flamed or oxidised. Its
added advantage is that it can be successfully combined with wood, glass, and
polyurethane to effectively contribute to the décor as a whole.

Visual
Impact: Beginning at its most taken-for granted
application in the kitchen, till date, kitchen appliances finished with steel
are a premium. We also see stainless steel being a preferred material as
backsplashes, as interiors of cabinets, and even as new style statements in the
form of a complete range of restyled kitchen accessories.

The sophistication of
combining the material in its myriad forms is another factor that contributes
to its success in interior application. Black and steel combine to spell
finesse and style.

Today the markets are
also flooded with easily applied and maintained decorative laminates in
stainless steel that come in a wide range of colours and can be used for a wide
variety of surface finishes, relief as well as distinct and unique effects in
décor.
However, the buck certainly does not stop
here.
Crown moldings, base boards, doors and door casings, furniture, etc. stainless steel is rally versatile and probably the most lasting material.
