IBR Designs creates an airy holiday home on the outskirts of Bengaluru working with the greenery and tranquility of the surrounds…
Situated in Devanahalli, a stone’s throw distance from the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru, the compact three-side-open, three-bed home is predominantly designed for comfort.

Using three personality traits of the homeowner – minimalist living, modern thinking and simplicity, this client-oriented second home is a narrative in chic eclecticism. Using a primarily neutral palette, the home follows an open-plan layout and comes alive with strategic use of floor-to-ceiling finishes – mirror, wood panelling, patterned and cushioned backdrops and the like; whilst colour is infused via soft furnishings and accessories.

A stone finished TV cabinet, corner windows anointed with blinds and sheers, framed modern art, and an open-air feel in the living room are some ways in which maximum natural elements are incorporated in a fashionable and modern manner. Raw and rustic elements like the POP textured wall, engineered wood panelling, nude shade cabinets paired with a dark countertop, and wooden flooring in certain areas are highlighted by neutral-on-neutral hues – greys, beiges and browns – depicting a controlled, understated design vocabulary.

The key concept of implementing minimalistic living with a touch of modernity while making no compromise on quality and simplicity is imparted by a wide use of easy-to-maintain materials. Maximizing natural light and enhancing the spatiality by using sheers and large mirrors that augment both - the horizontality and the verticality, opens the home to a perfect holiday vibe.

Given the homeowners to be well travelled and design conscious, this abode lends well to their temperament by being matter of fact without losing on contemporaneity or aesthetics.
