Sharan Architecture + Design wields the magic of neutrals to design a simple, charming and timeless home in Surat…
Timelessness is interior design is generally equated with a neutral palette to enable convenient additions and alterations that can enhance the ambience – even change the look and feel completely without much ado.

The same principle marks the interior-scape of this Surat residence that seeks to embrace all – modernity, sophistication, luxe appeal and timelessness. A tall order? Not for the designers of Sharan Architecture + Design, who have a penchant for such vocabulary.

Creating a perfect pairing with shades of brown, grey and black, the interior envelope is a calculated ensemble of these shades cut strategically by white. So, we see some floor-to-ceiling wooden panelling that camouflages the wardrobes in the bedroom, constitute bed backdrops, and extends to form the false ceiling near the dining and open kitchen, in direct contrast to the whiteness of the living room – thus establishing signature zones.

Use of lines – bold, pencil-thin, horizontal, vertical, oblique… anoint the interiors and comprise a major design detail as they traverse the ceiling, the bed backdrops, detailing elements of the furniture, creating a touch of subtle delicacy in an otherwise robust ambience.
Floor-to-ceiling curtains and display units emphasise verticality, drawing attention to the uncluttered and simple interior – augmenting spaciousness and exuding a charming ambience with a lot of warmth.
Cove and spotlights keep the ceiling clean and combine with pendent lights in the bedrooms to define mood lighting as and when required.

As the palette picks from both – the brown and the black spectrums – the overall effect is one of harmony and balance, calmness juxtaposed with dynamism.
