Square 3 Designs Pvt. Ltd designs a luxury jewellery lounge in tune with the modern mindset of indulgent shopping…

The very act of shopping is cathartic. And when the experience is enhanced by hospitable store-staff, one comes away feeling truly rejuvenated! Taking this simple premise a tad higher in the echelons of hospitality and indulgence, especially in the jewellery and diamond trade, a noted Mumbai jeweller sought to pamper his clientele via a state-of-the-art lounge experience, where soothing music, optimum lighting and a befitting luxe ambience would aid high-brow purchases in utter privacy.

The 700 sq. ft. jewellery lounge and executive cabin in south Mumbai invites and entertains customers by prior appointment only. Bathed in neutral tones, the smart space has an executive cabin with a long table fitted with all the amenities of appropriate lighting, security system, locker, etc to transact business. Project lead Ar. Paras Mehta has ingeniously camouflaged the 750 kg locker with the cladding used in the interiors.

Another highlight is the play of lights mounted in the false ceiling. Pendant lights augment the glamour of the diamond jewellery displayed, while concealed lights complete the overall mood-build of the space. One can feel the aura of luxury, when seated in the cabin, reviewing the perfect diamond preferences.

The only other room apart from the executive cabin, is a lounge with plush finishes. It is well equipped to display jewellery in print, digital and physical modes and is endowed with elemental amenities viz., a coffee machine, wine cooler and music station in addition to a miniscule book library on jewels and jewellery.

The entire space is brought to life with a play of textures: leatherite clad walls are juxtaposed with mirror clad and marble clad ones… tonal variations of grey mingle with touches of umber against contrasting black and white, in a subtle monochromatic aesthetic. Added to this is the frosted glass that segregates the two areas, functionally conducive, but adding yet another dimension to the material play.

The designers have sought to harmonise colour and material and succeed at this despite the slightly disparate feel of mounting the LED TV on the mirror-clad wall. Having one’s reflection intercept the digital imagery being viewed, appears disconcerting, to say the least. Yet, the lounge stands out as a statement of luxe appeal – apt for the world of glitter and shine that rules the purchase of high-end jewellery.
