Using a neutral palette as the defining element, Ankush Aggarwal, MD Ansa Interiors, harmonizes disparate architectural styles to suit every member of the family in this triplex in Delhi…

Defining understated luxury in a triplex bungalow, where each member of the family has a distinct view of his needs and wants, is nothing short of a very intimate challenge for an architect. Following a fusion style, team Ansa Interiors has skilfully married classicism with a contemporary flair that acts as a unifying factor throughout the approx. 9,000 sq.ft. home.

A plush feel and symmetry are effortlessly juxtaposed with an uncluttered, clean-line look evoking an appeal that is lavish yet easy-on-the-eye.

Spaciousness is augmented by naturally-endowed large floor-to-ceiling height, whilst the designer’s challenge was to convince their well-travelled client to allow them to source local rather than international.

Disparate styles are seen throughout the home: old-world charm of ivory coloured-gold gilded furniture; moulded ceilings vie for attention with an out-and-out contemporary approach with stripes juxtaposed with solids; use of contemporary brass inset marble wall cladding; straight-lined furniture, stately floor-to-ceiling drapes and eclectic mixes like leather-and-wood, seamless printed envelope that ensconces upholstery and walls in an arresting highlight… subtle geometry defined against floral in a modern Rococo setting… culling out individuality in each and every space.

Design being subjective, especially so residential design, principal designers Ankush and Sapna Aggarwal diligently weave together distinctive elements into a tapestry of understated style by juxtaposing and balancing the palette viz. cool and light colours like ivory and beige with warm and dark browns and greys. Tying it all together into a cohesive whole are materials like marble, glass, mirrors, veneer, fabrics and wood - fostering both, visual appeal and a chic schematic.

Incorporation of sustainable features belies the thinking that luxury projects consume more than they give back.  Rain water harvesting, recycling of water, use of skylights to augment daylight; LEDs, motion sensors, non-toxic paints and polishes besides choice of natural fabrics viz., billiard table from reclaimed wood and flush doors from wood waste makes the project an exercise in exquisite individuality as well as social relevance.
