An amalgamation of the words, “Luxury” and
“high-end” generates an uber chic interaction in today’s world of avant garde interiors.
The Oxford dictionary defines ‘luxury’ as “a state
of great comfort or elegance, especially when involving great expense” and ‘high-end’
as “denotes the most expensive of a range of products”. Incidentally, both
definitions have the word ‘expense’ in common; and the predominant question
that stares one in the face is: what happens when, even after spending high
amounts, the luxury quotient is not sufficiently achieved? And this is where my
discussion begins about ‘what could be the key elements in high-end residential
interiors that bring about a sense of ‘luxury’ into a home?’
. |
. |
Let’s begin with the hiring of professional
services of talented and approachable designers. Home design should be a reflection of the
client’s/owners lifestyle and needs. It should personify the people who live
within. So, ranging from classic to contemporary styles, the idea is to craft
spaces that are true representations of the owner’s imagination, thus evoking a
true feeling of home.
. |
This then brings us to a consistency in the desired
theme/style, combined with quality, durability and an element of timelessness
in choosing products; this lends an instantaneous luxuriant appeal to a mere
functional space.
. |
. |
For some individuals, exclusivity indicates luxury.
For example, a rare piece of art or a vintage piece of décor, could add to the high-end
quotient of their home. Elements like paintings, sculptures and exotic artefacts
from worldly travels, make for unique display items that reflect one’s passion
and interests.
. |
Also, being in line with the latest technologies,
like having fully automated homes, with your curtains and lighting, all
adjusted by a single touch on your i-pad/remote, have been and are still a
strong trend in interiors.
. |
Layers of lighting created with recessed/cove
lights, large chandeliers or over-sized hanging pendants, floor and table lamps
making dramatic focal points, can be used artistically to emphasize
architectural details and décor.
. |
Though custom-made furniture, plush quality
carpeting, bold colour schemes and
fabrics, polished and branded accessories are all marks of Luxury Home Design, the quality of workmanship,
the crispness of an inherent finesse ensures a holistic performance of all
elements and collectively constitutes, what separates a well-designed space
from a luxurious space; this stand-apart aspect establishes the benchmark!

it is almost always leather because that is a great natural material which can be kept very very clean. the others are stone of various types like marble and granite which has become overused. high tech materials like superb glass is also good.
