Cosy
corners are soul-stirring little nothings that can enrich the emotional value
of your home…
Often, we find that little nooks and corners around the home – on the
landing, near your entrance, a little space between two perpendicular windows
in a large room, develop a lot of sentimental value based entirely on the positive
vibes that they distinctly convey to you.
It is indeed amazing how a little cubby-hole often becomes the most
favoured ‘spot’ in the home – only, sometimes we find such nooks per chance
while at others, we tend to create them. Let us take a look at some important
aspects of décor that translate matter-of-fact spaces into cosy corners and
how!
. |
Colour - most significant aspect of any décor. It adds an accent;
creates a focal point; sets the
mood! Use it in any form – on the wall,
in cushions, throws, foot rug, table cover, furniture polish or even as a
charming contributor through accessories.
. |
Light - endorses
the positive aspects of colour;
coerces the desired ambiance.
Caution: Different light
fixtures create different effects with various colours – so choose with care!

Furniture Arrangement: There is nothing more inviting than an
overstuffed armchair with a large footrest or an old rocking chair in a free
corner.
Upside: Always use movable
furniture so that you can easily shift it and create fresh combinations.
. |
Art & Artefacts: Collections
of small objects can be grouped here for a striking display - masks, hats, even
coins.
. |
Ideal Spots: A
free corner could be a snug place for the voracious reader; a convenient
telephone corner, where a voluble talker could spend hours chatting privately,
a desk in a corner seated next to an open window is often a great spot for
daydreaming, journal writing, where the window sill could be a convenient prop
for small potted plants, photo frames, greeting cards, mementos…

In
fact, any tastefully decorated, lovingly nurtured personal space that is warm
and inviting becomes one’s cosy corner; it could even form the focal point of the
décor in case of a larger room or for the sheer joy of designing a vignette
that is bound to be the topic of conversation about one’s home!
I love creating cozy corners (I call them vignettes) that are not only attractive, but comfortable oases within a room. They're warm and inviting and add a lot to the mood and tone of a space.
ReplyDeleteNice fresh approach. I really like the Beach Bellow chair concept. If you're getting too much sun, you can always slide inside it. Good place to store stuff while you enjoy the waves.
ReplyDeletehaving cozy corners as part of a room gives us the feeling of privacy, more personal in our own way where you can relax and contemplate without being disturbed. A space that speaks, about you and who you really are.
